Benefits of Chrome Cobalt Partial Dentures vs Acrylic Partial Dentures
Among the partial denture variations there some important differences when looking at acrylic dentures vs their cobalt chrome counterparts. Acrylic dentures are are made from a strong, body safe resin that are customised in colour to blend as seamlessly with the natural gums and teeth as possible. Their acrylic composition make them one of the bulkier restorative prosthetics, however they are considered amongst the most affordable solution for patients. Metal (cobalt chrome) partial dentures are constructed by fitting the customised teeth on a cast metal frame that attaches the to the surrounding natural teeth with small metallic clasps. These dentures are minimally invasive, very strong and considerably longer lasting than their acrylic comparators. Aesthetically they can be smaller and more natural looking, however the metallic framework can be visible.
What are the Steps Involved to Fabricate One

- Models made from the impressions are accessed for contact points, bite balance, teeth height and contours. Where necessary preparations to the natural teeth, and adjustments will be made.
- Dentures are fabricated or cast as per elected variation (this process differs between acrylic and metallic construction)
- Hand finishing and fitting for final adjustments before delivery.
